I was immediately seduced by each piece of Marc-Philippe Coudeyre’s collections. 
The combination of innovative fabrics and colours he uses are Elegant, Subtle, Delicate and Stunning! 


You grew up in many countries such as Scotland, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, France and Colombia. Which culture affected your vision of fashion the most and in which way ?

Growing up in foreign countries has left a deep impact on my work today. From a very young age, I found myself in the position of an observer and I had the chance to see amazing costumes, colorful garments and exotic ways of dressing. Without knowing it, I developped a genuine interest for fashion. I don’t think that only one country in particular influenced me. It is rather the combination of all these very different countries, which represents an immense source of inspiration for me.

 

Where does your main inspiration come from when you create a collection ?

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Antwerp, where the approach in fashion is very artistic and personal. Everything inspires me from music, to art,  movies and books. But it all starts with the fabrics: I am crazy about beautiful fabrics and prints! I create every season a new atmosphere, a new story, which I translate in the designs, the choice of materials and colors.

 

We have seen many strong colors and prints such as Gold, Orange, Black and Flower and Graphic prints. Which color or print do you enjoy using the most to express your work ?

When I design a collection, I try to think of all the different situations or feelings a woman can have in a day : Joyful, Playful, Mysterious, Busy, Relaxed, etc… This is reflected in the collection: you will find printed dresses, as well as strong colored jackets or soft shaded tops. But the pieces can also be combined together and this is what creates interesting contrasts!

 

Who is the designer you appreciate the most according to his/her talent ? Why ?

Fashion today has evolved so much and there are so many new designer I admire. I like New York designers such as Proenza Schouler, Jason Wu, etc … as much as British designers such us Marios Schwab and Christopher Kane. Of course Alber Elbaz and Raf Simons have marked fashion, with their finesse and strong personal vision. But if I had to pick my all time favorite designers, it still would be the old school designers such as : Cristobal Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Coco Chanel and Madeleine Vionnet. I admire the work of these designers because it was still the begining of fashion as we know it today and they created very personal styles with incredible technical skills.

 

Do you have other projects such as collaborations with other artists for certain events for instance ?

I am very open to collaborations with others artists. Right now iIam developping a personalized print for my new winter collection with a graphic designer. Also, I am thinking of creating a jewellery line in the near future with a jewelry designer.
